The beat goes on with these "Best of 2013" titles from the librarians at the Merrick Library...

Hi All!
There were so many good things I read this year, it was hard to winnow them all down to ten. I will say that of the top ten, the top 4 were absolutely terrific.
Here are my choices for the best fiction reads of 2013!

1. People in the Trees, by Hanya Yanagihara
2. Constellation of Vital Phenomena, by Anthony Marra
3. Life After Life, by Kate Atkinson
4. We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, by Karen Joy Fowler
5. The Virgins, by Pamela Erens
6. The Husband's Secret, by Liane Moriarty
7.The Silent Wife, by A.S.A. Harrison
8. The Woman Upstairs, by Claire Messud
9. The Tenth of December, by George Saunders

My non-fiction choices:

10. Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief, by L. Wright
11. Lost Girls: An Unsolved American Mystery, by Robert Kolker

Caveat:
As of this posting I have yet to read, "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt,
"The Flamethrowers", by Rachel Kushner and "The Son" by Phillip Meyer.
So many books, so little time!
