The Wednesday Afternoon Book Discussion crew read this book back in 2009 to rave reviews. We couldn't put it down.
Here's a synopsis of the Mudbound from Adam Chitwood of Collider:
"Co-written and directed by Dee Rees (Pariah), this Southern epic is based on the Hillary Jordan novel of the same name and takes place in the 1940s, where it revolves around two families—one white and one black—who live on one farm. The black family works the farm for the white family, but the stories of the characters are endlessly intertwined as they navigate racism, poverty, and World War II side by side."
The book is riveting and I expect the movie to be nothing less.
Mudbound will be available on Netflix and released in theaters on November 17th.
