On February 26 the 26th annual Independent Spirit Awards were presented in Santa Monica, California. The following movies in Merrick Library's DVD collection were honored at the gathering:
"127 Hours" - Best Male Lead (James Franco)
"Get Low" - Best First Feature
"The Kids Are All Right" - Best Screenplay
"Please Give" - Robert Altman Award (Best Ensemble Cast)
"Winter's Bone" - Best Supporting Female (Dale Dickey), Best Supporting Male (John Hawkes)
