DIGGING DEEPLY INTO THE JOHNNY CASH ARCHIVES, HIS ONLY SON PRESENTS A LOVING AND RICH PORTRAIT OF THE COUNTRY LEGEND.
This lavishly illustrated book features many color and black and white photos, as well as numerous removable keepsake facsimile documents. A successful, multi-Grammy-winning record producer in his own right, John Carter Cash has reached into the extensive Carter family archives to produce a memoir his father. Known to his many fans as The Man in Black, Johnny Cash died in 2003. Cash was known primarily as a country performer, but he was successful in many music genres including rockabilly and rock and roll, blues, folk and gospel which led him to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After the deaths of his parents, JOHNNY CASH and JUNE CASH, the task of going through their huge storage vault packed to the brim with memories fell to John Cater Cash and his wife. Now the curator of the Carter family legacy, John Carter Cash, unearthed a large number of unpublished photographs, poetry and songs, master tapes dating back to the mid-50s sketches, film reels, audio tape mixes, “strange hats, guitar cases, harmonicas,” and so much more. HOUSE OF CASH is a memoir, biography and deeply personal remembrance of the man beneath the black. From his roots it records Cash’s early hardscrabble life in Arkansas, where his family eventually received a parcel of land to farm cotton through Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal program. For fans of Johnny Cash, HOUSE OF CASH provides an affectionate and affecting look into the Johnny Cash legend.
